Taiwan's exports face unreasonable trade barriers
According
to a survey, Taiwan's exports faced high trade barriers in world
trade businesses. The survey done in this August and released by
the Taipei-based Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI)
on Nov. 7th.
CNFI
conducted this survey regarding the export obstacles. A total of
144 local industries and exporters thought regarding the trade
barriers in the world market. Southeast Asia markets have the
highest trade barriers and Europe and the U.S. , the two other
export markets, impose second highest trade barriers for
Taiwanese manufacturers. Those export-oriented manufacturers
suggested that the government list the unreasonable trade
barriers as the negotiation agenda with WTO member nations when
both Taiwan and the mainland are approved to join the world trade
club.
According to the survey, exports of Taiwan made tiles and color
corrugated paperboards to Vietnam and Malaysia have to pay
comparably high tariffs, respectively. Taiwanese cement
manufacturers also face import restrictions in Vietnam and
Philippine. Besides, Taiwan exporters have faced high tariffs for
some industrial raw materials and relevant products in the
mainland. The mainland authorities concerned also adopt more
strict administration measures against imports from Taiwan, thus
affecting their competition in the mainland Chinese market. Those
barriers reduce the opportunities for Taiwanese manufacturers to
obtain foreign orders in the field.
