China Airlines have bright business prospects
China Airlines (CAL) reported its sales revenue in August reached NT$6.68 billion, with profit about NT$514 millionon last Friday.
For the first eight months of
year 2000, the sales revenue of NT$46 billion accounted for 64.9%
of it annul forecast of NT$70.9 billion. At the same time, CAL
posted a pretax profit of NT$2.35 billion during the January-August
period, already exceeding the company's current forecast of NT$2.25
billion for 2000.
Respectively, the carrier's passenger and cargo loading rates
have improved to 84% and 85% in last month, the highest levels of
past few years, said CAL President Christine Tsung, who took up
her current post in a management overhaul in late June.
Besides, CAL will launch chartered passenger flights to India and
cargo flights to Malaysia in early September, to further boost
its sales, Tsung added.
In related news, Tsung said the board of China Airlines has not
yet discussed a planned investment project that involves a
potential acquisition of a 25% stake in mainland's China Cargo
Airlines.
