Export orders hit the heghest
Monthly figure in January
Taiwan's export orders posted a total value of US$10.87 billion in January. Comparing the
figure in last year, the record increas by 10.86% and hit the highest monthly figure for
January ever on record.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs announced the statistics on yesterday. In the past,
January is usually a low month for Taiwan's export. Because of the booming global market,
Taiwan's export order grew.
Electronic products increase in the value of export orders last month, up 33.4% from a
year
earlier. The growth rate was also experienced in textile goods, plastic and rubber
products, machinery, information technology products, and telecommunication equipment.
The U.S. was the first market of export orders among Taiwan's export markets,
with US$3.56 billion. Europe was the second with US$2 billion and a growth rate of 15.17%
in January 1999, the third was Hong Kong (including transshipment to mainland China) with
US$1.96 billion (19.49%), and Japan was the forth market of Taiwan's export with US$1.09
billion (12.11%).
